My teenage grandchildren are very amused when I tell them how we went about choosing the christening invitations for their mother. They do not know about life before the internet. Once we had finalized the date and booked the minister, we were ready to tackle the invitations. My husband and I asked friends who had recently organized a family event for advice on the best printer to use. We were warned to start this process as soon as possible. We visited the printer to look at samples. We had to allow lead time for the actual printing once we had made our choice. We also had to allow time for the invitations to be sent by mail. A reply card was included which had to be mailed back to us at least a week in advance so that we could make catering and seating arrangements for the christening party after the church service. It’s quite different today when you can do it all through the internet.
